A wonderful example of Japanese binding by Maria Fischer.
In the designers own words – ‘The book ‘dream thought’ contains a collection at literary, philosophical, psychological and scientific texts, which offer a viewpoint on the different aspects around dreaming.
In order to facilitate the entrance into what is, understandably, a difficulty topic the book is conceived as model of a dream or dreaming. Similarly to a dream, in which fragments from the reality are joined to an action, therein different text excerpts meet one another. These are interlaced by threads, which tie to keywords. The threads visualize the fragility of the dreams.
On five sides illustrations from threads are to be found. They orient themselves in structure and are colour-coded to the keywords on the opposite side, whereby an abstract picture from the dream of dreaming develops.’
